My CV
David Somekh trained as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst at the
Maudsley Hospital London after completing a PhD in experimental psychology because he didn't know what to do next after his medical degree.
He became an expert in Forensic Psychiatry and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Interested in organisational dynamics and change management he became a Medical Manager and had various roles in the NHS but also in the independent sector before becoming freelance in 2002.
He was a member of the Council of the leading UK charity for Healthcare Quality since 1990 and was Chair of Council since 1995.Andrew Corbett-Nolan has just taken over this role.
As a result of this position David had been a member of the NICE partners council since it started in 1998. Also later in 1998 representing the UK he joined the newly formed Council of ESQH in Budapest and has since become a member of the Executive and has been involved both in internal communications but also in Patient Safety activities, setting up the ESQH London office and helped to write the successful bid for the DGSANCO Patient safety project, Simpatie.
With the support of Marius Buiting, Bertrand de Noray and others he has participated in the running of several recent Summercamps and hopes to do more.
David is interested in the application of psychoanalytic principles to enhancing Leadership competencies and in the potential of eQuality. His other enthusiasm is for methods to enhance exchange of quality knowledge across and within Europe.
