ESQH Summercamp Gothenburg: July 23-26 2008
Industry and Healthcare working together for a better society
This year the ESQH summercamp meeting will take place in Gothenburg to inaugurate the ESQH Office sponsored by Chalmers University.
The theme described in the title represents the first stage in an exciting new project that promotes public-private partnership between health and industry aimed at using expertise from the industrial sector to re-engineer healthcare systems and offer new and more effective models of service delivery. In addition, a particular emphasis will be placed on exploring synergies and parallels with those involved in transforming education.
The concept is of a win-win scenario whereby health services benefit from sources of innovation and creative thinking that have proved successful in the industrial sector. Industry can benefit both by using the project as their contribution to the corporate social responsibility component of their corporate strategy but also potentially become more efficient and effective by improving the health of their work-force.
The outcome of the event would involve determining what components such a platform would require, to make it viable. Also an aim would be to make some recommendations as to how key barriers to change might be overcome and what the next steps in the process might be.
This event builds on a summercamp event in Brdo, Slovenia in August 2007 (a brief outline of outcomes from Brdo is included as a further attachment) and subsequently the EU Presidency Conference on Quality and Innovation held this year June 5/6 at Kranjska Gora (see ESQH website: www.esqh.net for programme and copies of all of the conference presentations plus summary of main outcomes).
The summercamp uses well-tried techniques for promoting creative thinking within a carefully selected heterogeneous group of participants, which is multi-modal and highly interactive but at the same time is both productive and a lot of fun!
Accommodation will be at the Nya Varvet Conference centre, beautifully situated overlooking the sea near Gothenburg. This is simple accommodation which costs 53 euros per night, which allows us to charge in addition only 300 euros conference fee, for use of conference facilities and all refreshments for the whole event.
A more detailed programme of activity for Thursday evening to Saturday lunch-time will be sent out to those who have registered, approximately two weeks before the event.
There's a problem with the English version of the Conference centre website, so to reserve your room at Nya Varvet simply ring reception: ++ 46 31 857020
and quote the ESQH event booking number 035455.
You can pay them direct for your room when you are there.
We will collect a deposit for the conference fee from you once you have booked.
Travel information regarding transits between Gothenburg airport and the conference centre will be available shortly. In essence you get a taxi direct for about 50 euros or, if you prefer, a slower, cheaper route by public transport: bus into Gothenburg city and then other transport out to Nya Varvet.
A map and exact address of the Conference centre will be placed on this site shortly.
Look forward to seeing you!
