"L" Network for Patient Safety

A Network for Patient Safety begun at the ESQH Krakow Practicum in Sept 2007.

Dear L Network Friends

We can use this workspace for communication, (email one or all members), multi discussions (Forum), an events calendar and placing documents we want to share with the group. This space will facilitate democratic decision making. And allow us to welcome new members as the L Network is an open group and any visitors to the ESQH site can come see what we are about.

I wonder, how one can use it for singing….

On October 20th some of us will meet in Barcelona at the ESQH workshop for education in quality and safety – I know that Solvejg, George and myself will be there for sure. Perhaps some others as well. But you will all know how it was as we will keep you informed and provide a report from Barcelona.

Thus to be or not to be in Barcelona is not an issue. The issue is to develop a habit of visiting this site. And joining in.

I have already written to Dr Valentina Hafner at WHO Europe in Copenhagen about the meeting we had in Krakow. Asking for support from European / National WHO Offices in launching the medication safety program in our countries. I will keep you informed as soon as I know myself how much support we might receive from WHO. Piotr (CoE) also promised to help. I am sure we will be supported by the European Society not only in hosting the L Network but also in many other ways.

I look forward to hearing from you soon – perhaps we might start by looking for the possibility of translating CoE Recommendation on Medication Safety into our national languages. Who might find a way to fund this (I know there already is a translation in Georgia) and who would need support for this?

In Poland the Polish Society for Quality Promotion (TPJ) will cover translation of the glossary but we have not yet found the money to do the rest and are looking for a solution here.

That’s all for now, and I hope you enjoy this space,

Basia Kutryba
