There are around 234.000 000 surgeries performed yearly globally.
The complications rate ranges from 3% to 17%; death rate identified due to surgical procedures is from 0.4% to 0.8%.
Thus, action is required to reduce the level of harm while providing surgical care and this issue will be the focus of discussions and presentations among surgeons, anaesthesiologists, policy makers on international, country and organisational levels at ESQH Luxembourg workshop.
