IV International Conference on Patient Safety: Finding the best clinical practices for safer care

Patient Safety is one of the Spanish National Health System’s top-priority strategies developed in coordination with the WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety.

Since 2005, the Quality Agency of the Spanish Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs has been organizing international conferences, workshops and seminars as one of its Patient Safety-related awareness, dissemination and enhancement activities.

This year, we are organizing the IV International Conference on Patient Safety, titled: Finding the best clinical practices for safer care that will be held in Madrid on November 25-26 this year (attached you can find the draft programme)

This Conference aims to present international and national experiences in the implementation of best clinical practices in clinical settings.

The topics of the Conference will be:

- International Strategies in Patient Safety
- Presentation of experiences in Spain and other countries in the implementation of recommended safe practices in clinical settings, including those related with:
- Surgery, following the WHO Challenge: Safe surgery saves lives.
- Prevention of adverse events related to medication use, health care associated infection and others.
- Education and research in Patient Safety.
- Patients’ role in health care provision as well as their active involvement in the decision making process.

The Conference welcoming address will be delivered by the Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs of Spain, Dr. Bernat Soria Escoms, and we expect the attendance of over 800 people from all health care fields, academic and research institutions, as well as social and patient organizations from Spain, Europe and America.
