The Karl Landsteiner Institute for Quality Assurance and Patient Safety will host the Vienna Office, which will officially be known as the ‘Office for knowledge and technology transfer between healthcare and industry’.
The activities of the Office will include liaison with the ESQH Gothenburg Office (which specialises in transfer of quality tools from industry to healthcare), setting up networks and a web-based knowledge base and in particular linking ESQH to international on-going projects where IQMS (KLI) is already a partner or counsellor.
The Office will have a formal opening in Feb. 2009 and aims to host the first International Congress of Healthcare and Industry working together in Autumn 2009.
The activities of the office will be overseen by Dr Roland Schlesinger and Prof Robert Fischer.
Also given its formal approval at ESQH’s recent Council Meeting is the ‘Office for research into the effectiveness of Quality Management and Quality Improvement Initiatives’.
This office will be hosted by the Netherlands Institute of Health Services Research (NIVEL).
The aim of the Office is to stimulate the exchange of knowledge on the topic within Europe and to initiate and support research on the effectiveness of quality management and quality improvement.
It will be headed by Dr Cordula Wagner.
