Dr Harry Angelopulos is a strong advocate for the application of the
discipline of quality and logistics engineering within NATO and the
European Union.

He has spent the last decade working with the Greek academic institutions to develop both traditional and non-traditional logistics engineering curricula. His current initiative, a distance learning course for the University of Athens, marries business logistics with systems logistics so as to reflect the importance of the integrative nature of logistics.

As Associate Professor of their faculty and member of their academic team to organize a new graduate Business Logistics and Systems Logistics Program, Dr Angelopulos is developing courses on and translations of the foundational references within the logistics body of knowledge.

Dr Angelopulos also was appointed Associate Professor and member of the academic team to organize the graduate Quality Assurance Program for the Greek Open University. A recognized quality expert and international mentor in Quality Planning and ISO 9000, he has transferred his expertise to numerous professional associations to ensure they reflect the latest technologies and theories guiding both logistics and quality.

He is a founding member of the Athena Chapter of SOLE, where he is today a member of both SOLE’s and the Chapter’s Education committee.

Other professional societies in which he is active are the American Society for Quality where he is a senior member, the Hellenic Quality Forum, the American Society for Testing and Materials, the Federation of Greek Industries \ CALS Team and the European Community \BCR Program Panel of Experts .

Dr Angelopulos has been a Member of the Hellenic Accreditation Council and a Member of the Academic Team for the Hellenic College of Public Health.

Bringing his unique understanding of the need to educate governments on the improvement logistics engineering and quality could bring to the healthcare industry, Dr Angelopulos served as part of an interdisciplinary international special interest group that contributed to the development of a position paper presented at a hearing on “Reducing Medical Errors: A Review of Innovative Strategies to Improve Patient Safety” before the Subcommittee on Health, US House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce in May, 2002.
